STATEMENT ON 9.1% INFLATION RATE

“Today’s inflation data illustrates the pain families across the country are feeling as costs continue to rise at a historic rate. 9.1% is cause for serious concern. Items like chicken, eggs and lunchmeat have increased to new highs, while energy costs rose more than 40% in June with those that can least afford it suffering the most. It is past time we put our country first and end this inflation crisis."

I was proud to lead my colleagues yesterday in honoring West Virginia's Hershel “Woody” Williams on the Senate floor as we pay respects to a true American hero. Woody will lie in honor today in the U.S. Capitol rotunda – fulfilling his wish that the last World War II Medal of Honor recipient lie in honor to represent the Greatest Generation of Veterans.

Ms. Cash of Mineral Wells contacted my office asking for assistance with her 2021 amended tax return. She had the amended return accepted yet had received no word from the agency. As a result of my office's inquiry, the 2021 amended tax return was released to Ms. Cash.

Bridge Investment Program

The Bridge Investment Program is a competitive discretionary grant program to improve the safety, efficiency, and reliability of the movement of people and freight by replacing, rehabilitating, preserving, and protecting bridges in the National Bridge Inventory (NBI). It has a focus on improving the condition of bridges in poor condition and supporting activities to prevent bridges in fair condition from dropping to poor condition.
