Last week, World War II Medal of Honor recipient Hershel "Woody" Williams, of Quiet Dell, became the seventh American & first West Virginian to lie in honor at the U.S. Capitol.

Fish Fry in Newell.

West Virginia School Clothing Allowance

Applications accepted until July 31st

​​The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources is accepting School Clothing Allowance applications for eligible children enrolled in West Virginia schools. Each eligible child can receive a $200 benefit that may be used for school clothing.

Those interested in applying may contact their local DHHR office with questions or to request an interview to determine eligibility.

Team that investigated the deaths at Clarksburg VA Hospital recognized

Last week, the team that investigated and prosecuted the case against Reta Mays, the serial killer who took the lives of eight veterans at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Clarksburg, was honored with the Attorney General’s Award for Distinguished Service. 

This is the is the Department of Justice's second highest award, recognizing employees and partners for extraordinary contributions to the enforcement of our nation’s laws. 

Our Veterans have made great sacrifices to protect our nation, and it is our duty to take care of them. I will continue to make meaningful changes at the VA so that Veterans in West Virginia and across the country can begin to rebuild their trust in today's care.
