Students from 22 counties have been nominated to the U.S. Service Academies, which include the U.S. Air Force Academy, the U.S. Naval Academy, the U.S. Military Academy and the Merchant Marine Academy. Final admission is determined by the respective academy.

 Nitro World War I Memorial Bridge

Last Friday marked a great milestone for the Kanawha Valley as the first span of the new Nitro World War I Memorial Bridge is complete! Thanks to the Bipartisan Infrastructure Bill, we'll be seeing a lot more road and bridge work across West Virginia.

HEALTH INSURANCE MARKETPLACE OPEN ENROLLMENT

Open enrollment for people who buy ACA health insurance via HealthCare.gov or one of the state exchanges begins today and, in most states, lasts through Jan. 15. To get coverage that begins Jan. 1, enrollment usually must occur by Dec. 15.


NEW ONLINE SERVICE FOR SOCIAL SECURITY CARDS AND BENEFITS

A new online service is available for West Virginians. Residents can use their my Social Security account to request a replacement Social Security card, check the status of an application, estimate future benefits or manage the benefits they already receive.

Visit www.socialsecurity.gov/myaccount to learn more and create a free and secure my Social Security account.

While you can no longer get free COVID-19 test kits from the federal government, if you have health insurance, you’re covered for 8 free over-the-counter, at-home COVID-19 tests each month. If you have health insurance through your employer, or if you have a plan through the Affordable Care Act’s marketplace, each person on your plan can get 8 tests per month. If you’re on Medicare, you’re also covered for 8 free over-the-counter COVID-19 tests each month.
