ADDITION OF NEW LAND AT NEW RIVER GORGE NATIONAL PARK AND PRESERVE

Manchin applauded the New River Gorge National Park and Preserve’s announcement that 45 acres of preserve land has been added to America’s newest National Park. As Chairman of the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee, Senator Manchin secured designation of New River Gorge as a National Park and Preserve in 2020 and continues to advocate for further resources.

Last week, I was proud to speak at the Gas and Oil Association of West Virginia's Winter Meeting. In West Virginia and across the country, we must continue to find new ways to power this country – especially our oil and natural gas industry, finding revolutionary opportunities for clean and efficient use through innovation.

Mr. Baker of Martinsburg contacted my office for assistance with his efforts to be reinstated on the kidney transplant list. A test was needed to maintain his eligibility, but his case with the VA hospital was made inactive. After an inquiry from my office, the VA updated the record that reinstated his eligibility.

NEW GRANT SUPPORT FOR WATER SYSTEMS - Nonprofit organizations, private universities/colleges and public institutions of higher education may search www.grants.gov (Opportunity number: EPA-OW-OGWDW-22-02) to apply for new grant support for water systems in rural and small communities. Applications are due January 26. 

SUMMER STUDY PROGRAMS - The Appalachian Regional Commission is accepting applications for two summer study two summer study opportunities: the Appalachian Entrepreneurship Academy (AEA) and the Appalachian STEM Academy at Oak Ridge. Both programs, planned for summer 2023, are free intensive learning experiences specifically for the Appalachian Region’s high school and/or middle school students and teachers. Applications due February 10. Learn more
