Winner of the 2023 U.S. Capitol Christmas Tree essay contest Ethan Reese joined us in Elkins for the first stop of the tour. 

Joshua of Mohawk contacted my office for assistance with his pending hearing for Social Security disability benefits. He had been denied twice before requesting a hearing in front of an Administrative Law Judge. As a result of an inquiry from my office to the Social Security Administration, a favorable decision was issued which entitled Mr. Morgan to retroactive disability benefits.

WEST VIRGINIA OUTDOOR ADVENTURES - Our country's 63rd national park, the New River Gorge, does not require an entrance pass and offers free camping! View a list of all state parks and other federal recreation sites in West Virginia. Learn more about interagency passes (free for Veterans and their families) to more than 2,000 federally protected recreation areas across the United States.

HEALTH INSURANCE OPTIONS - Health Insurance Marketplace open enrollment for the 2024 calendar year begins November 1st. Enroll by December 15th for coverage that starts on January 1st. Visit Healthcare.gov or call 1-800-318-2596 for more information. Those who no longer qualify for Medicaid and CHIP can turn to the Marketplace for insurance coverage.

The open enrollment period for Medicare is now through December 7th. Find information and compare plans at Medicare.gov or by calling 1-800-MEDICARE. Medicare will never call you unexpectedly or ask for personal information. Learn more about how to avoid Medicare enrollment scams. 

UNINSURED/UNDERINSURED INDIVIDUALS - Many clinics throughout the state offer free or low-cost health care options for West Virginians. Use this search tool to find a clinic in your area.
