MANCHIN QUESTIONS FDA COMMISSIONER ON OPIOID APPROVAL PROCESS, DOMESTIC PRODUCTION OF ANTIBIOTICS

FDA Commissioner opioids

Opioids have been devastating to this entire country, especially in my state of West Virginia, but the FDA continues to approve new opioids using flawed methodology. The enriched enrollment clinical trial process has made it easier for FDA to approve opiates and has allowed for the broad marketing of these drugs.

Senator Manchin’s Protecting Americans from Dangerous Opioids Act would require the FDA to remove one opioid medication currently on the market for every new opioid medication that they approve.

"I’m glad Postmaster DeJoy has heeded our repeated, bipartisan calls to pause these changes to the USPS’s mail delivery network, which would jeopardize timely mail delivery in communities across West Virginia and our entire country."
