Senator Romney welcomed Jay Powell, chairman of the Federal Reserve, to the office to discuss the country's economic outlook.
Utah was one of the first states to raise the smoking age to 21. Senator Romney joined Senators Todd Young (R-IN), Brian Schatz (D-HI), and Dick Durbin (D-IL) in introducing federal legislation that would prohibit the sale of tobacco products, including e-cigarettes, to anyone under the age of 21. Utah Congressman Chris Stewart is introducing companion legislation in the House.
Keeping harmful tobacco products out of our children's hands can help protect them from a lifetime of addiction. This important federal legislation would follow Utah's lead.

Patients in Utah and across the country are strapped with skyrocketing prescription drug costs, while insurance companies and drug manufacturers benefit from a complex system of rebates. Senator Romney, along with Senator Braun (R-IN), introduced the Prescription Drug Rebate Reform Act of 2019 which would require all patients' coinsurance obligations be set as a percentage of net price, rather than list price, before or after a deductible is met.
By changing the rules of cost-sharing, this legislation aims to bring transparency to the prescription drug pricing system and lower out-of-pocket costs. A summary of the bill can be found here.

Senator Romney is currently at Promontory Summit with his fellow Utahns celebrating the 150th Anniversary of the driving of the Golden Spike, the event that signified the completion of the Transcontinental Railroad. Earlier in the week, he entered a statement in the Congressional Record to commemorate this anniversary and recognize the roughly 15,000 Chinese immigrants, 10,000 Irish immigrants, and 4,000 Latter-day Saints who joined the national effort to complete the Railroad.
