This week, having served the people of Utah for six months, Senator Romney gave his maiden speech on the floor of the United States Senate. He participated in a Foreign Relations Committee hearing on the 30th Anniversary of the Tiananmen Square Massacre, and commemorated the 75th Anniversary of D-Day.

 

In his maiden speech on the Senate Floor, Senator Romney discussed his experience serving in the Senate thus far and addressed the need for a strategy to confront the challenges China poses to the United States. His full speech can be watched below:

For the 75th Anniversary of D-Day, Senator Romney recorded a video tribute honoring members of the Greatest Generation, who gave it all up on the beaches of Normandy to liberate an entire continent. His message may be watched below:

Senator Romney took the Taylor Family out to the Speaker's Balcony for one of the best views of Washington. Jennie Taylor (left), wife of the late Major Brent Taylor who was killed in Afghanistan earlier this year, was in town with Major Taylor's parents and two of their sons.

At a Senate Foreign Relations Committee Hearing titled "Rule By Fear: 30 Years After Tiananmen," Senator Mitt Romney (R-UT) asks witnesses about the current state of Chinese government oppression and human rights violations.

Senator Romney meets with Sage Weston, a rancher out of Randolph, who was in Washington on behalf of the Utah Cattlemen's Association.

Team Romney's softball team "Mitt Happens" squared off against Senator Carper's staff, "Carper Diem," in its first softball game of the season. Without mention of the outcome (read: we lost), a lot of fun was had.
