Senator Romney released the following statement regarding the budget deal reached this week:
In celebration of Pioneer Day, Senator Romney joined Utahns and fellow members of the congressional delegation at Flavors of Utah, hosted by Senator Mike Lee. Food vendors from across the state traveled to Washington, setting up shop in the Senate, to showcase some of the best (and most delicious!) products Utah has to offer.
Pioneer Day is a time to honor the legacy of faith, hard work, and innovation of the courageous pioneers who, fearing no toil nor labor, journeyed west into the Salt Lake Valley. Senator Romney recorded the following video message, honoring Utah's pioneers and his ancestors. His great-great grandfather, Miles Romney, designed the famous spiral staircases in the St. George Tabernacle and his other great-great grandfather, Parley P. Pratt, advanced Brigham Young’s route to the Salt Lake Valley.
Senator Romney met with Stephen Dickson prior to his confirmation as FAA Administrator. Following his confirmation, the Senator said: "I look forward to working with him on issues that impact Utah, like proposed expansions of smaller community airports like Moab, and larger concerns I have regarding air safety, specifically the Boeing 737 Max."
At a Senate Foreign Relations Committee Hearing titled "Reviewing Authorities for the Use of Military Force," Senator Romney questioned witnesses from the State Department on the AUMF authority and issues surrounding war powers.
Senator Romney met with this year's Boys & Girls State delegates from Utah: Josh and Noah from Syracuse; Elle from Draper; and Maria from Layton.
Senator Romney also welcomed Utah FFA Association officers Kaylee and Myka to the Capitol.
