Feb. 10 - Feb. 14, 2020

This week, Senator Romney focused on several legislative priorities: protecting our nation's youth from the vaping epidemic; settling the decades-long negotiation among the Navajo Nation, federal government, and the state of Utah over water rights for Utah Navajos; and advocating for comprehensive strategies to combat Iran and Russia's nefarious foreign policy objectives around the globe. The Senator also joined his colleagues in Utah's Congressional delegation in commemorating Utah's role in the women's suffrage movement and met with several groups of Utahns visiting Washington.

150 years ago today, Seraph Young became the first woman to vote in Utah. It would be another 50 years until the 19th Amendment extended voting rights to women throughout the country. Utah women led the way. Senator Romney joined his Utah delegation colleagues Senator Lee and Congressmen Bishop, Stewart, Curtis, and McAdams to honor Utah's role in the women's suffrage movement. You can watch their tribute below:

Senator Romney led a group of colleagues in sending a letter to the director of the Center for Tobacco Products expressing their concerns and requesting answers about devices, flavor requirements, and the Premarket Tobacco Product Applications process as the FDA implements the guidance saying: "Despite mounting evidence that flavors are a key driver of youth [e-cigarette] use, the January Guidance has glaring policy gaps that keep kids addicted to flavored products." The letter can be found here.
