Following a request from Senator Romney and delegation members to visit Utah, Interior Secretary Deb Haaland visited the state this week and met with stakeholders as part of the Administration's ongoing review of the Bears Ears and Grand Staircase-Escalante national monuments. Senator Romney met with the Secretary, and spent a day touring Bears Ears and meeting with local and tribal leaders. During these meetings, the group reiterated their request that the Administration work with stakeholders to craft a collaborative, consensus legislative solution that reflects the input of the people most directly impacted. The political back-and-forth that our communities have been subjected to for more than 25 years must end.

COVID-19 vaccines are critical to keeping ourselves and our communities safe. Senator Romney and Utah Lt. Governor Deidre Henderson volunteered at the vaccine clinic run by the Midtown Community Health Center in Clearfield and toured the Davis County Health Department's vaccine site. While at the two sites, they thanked all of the volunteers for helping their fellow Utahns get vaccinated.

Members of the Utah National Guard have consistently answered the call of duty—especially these past months. Senator Romney met with Major General Michael Turley and other Guard leaders in Draper to discuss their recent efforts to assist Utahns in getting their COVID-19 vaccines.
The Chinese Communist Party is committing grave human rights abuses and flouting the rules of global trade in its quest to make China the world’s military, geopolitical, and economic superpower. Senator Romney joined the U.S. Global Leadership Coalition for a virtual town hall to discuss U.S. global leadership, specifically as it relates to China, and its impacts on Utahns.

The Bonneville Shoreline Trail provides great outdoor recreational opportunities for Utahns, but several wilderness-designated areas along the trail are hampering full use of the trail. Senator Romney and Rep. John Curtis (R-UT) reintroduced legislation to adjust the boundaries of the trail to ensure that construction can be fully completed and Utahns can enjoy its wide range of recreational opportunities for many years to come.
