With the President’s signature on Monday, the bipartisan Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act became law! This legislation provides an historic investment in our nation’s core infrastructure to modernize roads and bridges, strengthen rail and transit systems, upgrade ports, expand broadband access, improve water systems, and increase the resiliency of the nation’s energy grid. It strengthens our economy without raising taxes or increasing inflation.

Senator Romney joined President Biden and his fellow infrastructure bill negotiators at the White House signing ceremony.

In stark contrast to the bipartisan infrastructure bill, the Democrats are pushing a reckless tax and spending plan that will add trillions to our debt. Their "Build Back Better" programs are intended to be permanent, but actually disappear in order to hide their true cost. Their proposal also includes huge tax breaks for wealthy New Yorkers and Californians. With record high inflation and debt, now isn’t the time to play budget games. The American people don't want this bill.

Senator Romney joined Guy Benson on Fox News Radio to discuss wins in the bipartisan infrastructure bill, and, in stark contrast, the Democrats' partisan tax and spending proposal.

We must take decisive action to confront China’s growing aggression and dissuade them from pursuing a predatory path around the world. We also must prioritize evacuation efforts of Americans and our Afghan friends and partners who still remain in the country amid Taliban control.

The Senate began consideration of the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) for Fiscal Year 2022. Senator Romney offered key amendments to counter China’s aggression and human rights abuses—including a diplomatic boycott of the Beijing Olympics—support our Afghan partners following the United States’ disastrous withdrawal, and bolster Utah’s Hill Air Force Base in its work to support our national security.

In authoritarian states like China, the Olympics have more often been a tool of propaganda than a lever of reform. It is unacceptable for China to have the honor of hosting the Olympics while the Chinese Communist Party commits genocide against the Uyghur people.

Senator Romney started pushing for a diplomatic boycott of the 2022 Beijing Olympic Winter Games in March. The Senate then passed his amendment codifying a diplomatic boycott in June. Now the movement is gaining steam across the government, with the Administration considering declaring a diplomatic boycott of the 2022 Games. This would send a strong message to the CCP, while safeguarding the dreams and hard work of U.S. athletes. Our national anthem should be played in Beijing.

The United States’ botched withdrawal from Afghanistan left us showered with shame. We’ve left behind thousands, broken promises to our friends and allies, abandoned women and girls, and put our national security interests at a much greater risk. The U.S. has a moral responsibility to ensure that every American and partner is safely evacuated from Afghanistan amid the Taliban’s oppressive and dangerous takeover.

During a Senate Foreign Relations Committee hearing, Senator Romney discussed the Administration’s disastrous withdrawal from Afghanistan.

Utah communities face immense challenges in the aftermath of wildfires. Senator Romney joined Senator Bennet (D-CO) in releasing a new Government Accountability Office (GAO) report highlighting the challenges faced by Western communities in the aftermath of wildfire. The report also detailed opportunities for the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) to improve its Emergency Watershed Protection Program to more effectively serve communities across the West as they recover. This report better informs the senators’ efforts to both mitigate natural disasters in the West and ensure that our communities have the support they need to recover.

The importance of early childhood development cannot be overstated. These are critical years for a child’s brain development and it is absolutely essential that leaders in our school districts are adequately prepared to support early childhood development teachers and programs. Senator Romney joined Senator Casey (D-PA) in introducing the Creating Early Childhood Leaders Act, bipartisan legislation that would better prepare school leaders, including principals, to facilitate high-quality early childhood education programs and provide support to teachers.
