Last night, Title 42—which allowed the Department of Homeland Security to expel illegal immigrants who have no lawful basis for staying in the country—expired. It is expected that this expiration will bring about a surge in border crossings. This week, Senator Romney led several of his Republican colleagues in urging the Biden Administration to complete the border wall, which would help get the national security and humanitarian crisis at the southern border under control—something the Administration has failed to do to date. He also met with national and state leaders for meetings on the U.S. presence in Southeast Asia and supporting small businesses. Keep scrolling for more news.

We are experiencing a grave humanitarian and national security crisis brought about by illegal immigration. Despite receiving congressionally-appointed funds to continue building the border wall, the Biden Administration has failed miserably to secure the southern border. In advance of the expiration of Title 42 authorities, Senator Romney led a group of 14 of his colleagues in sending a letter to Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas criticizing the Administration’s border failures and requesting information on the status of the border wall construction projects.

Hardworking Americans should be rewarded, not punished, for making responsible financial decisions. Created as a result of the 2008 financial crisis, the Federal Housing Finance Agency was designed to be nonpartisan. Senator Romney raised concerns with a new policy from the Biden Administration that would re-work mortgage fee structures that lead borrowers with strong credit scores to subsidize the costs for borrowers with low credit scores.
