Utah is well represented by our veterans, who have served their country despite the risks and sacrifices required of them. As Senator for Utah, I’ve had the distinct privilege of meeting many of our veterans—at the VA in Salt Lake City, during their Honor Flight trips to Washington, D.C., and at Veterans Day commemoration events across the state. I’ve consistently found myself heartened and inspired to associate with these patriotic heroes. To all veterans, thank you not only for your military service to our country, but for your continued service to your families and communities. Utah is what it is—the best state in which to live, work, and raise a family—because of you.

The United States will soon reach an economic crisis if we allow our public debt to continue to rise. This week, Senators Romney and Manchin led a bipartisan group of senators in introducing legislation to create a fiscal commission that would craft solutions to stabilize and decrease our national debt. He also joined a committee roundtable to address the alarming rise in antisemitism on college campuses. Scroll for more news.

Our national debt now exceeds $33.6 trillion—more than double what it was just 10 years ago! Ignoring the increasingly dire debt problem jeopardizes our economic stability, standing in the world, and the wellbeing of future generations. Senators Romney and Manchin (D-WV) led their colleagues in introducing the Fiscal Stability Act, a bipartisan solution to strengthen America’s fiscal health and stabilize our nation’s finances for future generations. The legislation would create a bicameral fiscal commission tasked with finding legislative solutions to stabilize and decrease our national debt. It's high time we put America's fiscal stability back on course.

In the wake of the mass murder of Jewish civilians by Hamas terrorists on October 7, 2023, there has been a disturbing rise in targeted harassment and violent attacks directed at our Jewish community. The rise of antisemitism expressed in this country is disgusting and reprehensible. Senator Romney joined a bipartisan Education Committee roundtable looking into incidents of antisemitism on American college campuses.

Utah Valley University's “Wolverines Elevated” program provides young adults with intellectual disabilities meaningful career development opportunities. Senator Romney met with program participant Fish to learn about his experience and how our institutions can better support neurodivergent students.
