Vermont seniors — please join me for a virtual town hall this Thursday, December 17th at 5:00 P.M.
While we can’t be together in person this year for our annual senior holiday dinners, this town hall is a way for us to gather virtually. It will be an opportunity for me to share an update from Congress and hear from you about issues of importance to you. You can share your thoughts on the current pandemic, issues that impact your daily life like the high cost of prescription drugs and the importance of social security, or even tell me about what you worry about for your children and grandchildren, like student debt, affordable child care, and climate change. If the issue matters to you, I hope you’ll share your thoughts with me.
The town hall will begin at 5:00 P.M. on Thursday. You may receive a call right before 5:00 P.M. that will allow you to join the call automatically. If you do not receive a call, dial 1-888-480-3635 at 5:00 P.M., or watch the town hall live at https://www.sanders.senate.gov/live. Please note that if you would like to ask a question live, you will need to be on the phone.
This is an incredibly difficult time for all of us, and that is especially true for our seniors. As we’re asked to continue to stay home, many older Vermonters may need help with basic necessities and may be facing isolation and loneliness. It’s more important than ever that the programs seniors rely on are fully funded and available to everyone who needs them. If you are a senior in need of assistance, you can call my office and someone will be happy to assist you.
With the world changing so dramatically, it’s imperative we renew our commitment to older adults throughout our state and nation.
I look forward to speaking with you on Thursday.
