Dear Fellow Vermonter,
I am a firm believer that the future of our country rests in the hands of young people. Every time I hear from young Vermonters, I am impressed by their ideas, their insights, and their passion to make their communities a better place. That is why I am glad to be taking on, as Vermont’s senior Senator, the United States Senate Page Program for our state.
This program is a pretty remarkable opportunity where young people not only get to see the legislative process here on Capitol Hill, but they also get to be a part of it themselves. Every day that I am in Washington, I see Senate Pages eating lunch together in the cafeteria, delivering correspondence, bills, and amendments, preparing the Senate Chamber, working on the Senate floor, assisting during votes, and even supporting senators and staff during debates.
If we are to address the many crises we face as a state and a country, young people must be involved in the political process. To my mind, this is a great way to do just that.
I hope you will join me in spreading the word about this opportunity to Vermont students across the state. If you know a young Vermonter who might be interested in applying, please forward this email to them. Students of all backgrounds, experiences, and political perspectives are encouraged to apply.
