Resources: Jenna's Promise and Other Vermont Recovery Services

Dear Fellow Vermonter,

None of us are immune to the effects of addiction. It is a heartbreaking story that I have heard again and again from parents, siblings, partners, and friends who have lost loved ones here in Vermont and across the country. Tragically, the pandemic has only made a bad situation much worse. We now have a full-fledged national crisis.

But let me say this. To all the Vermonters who are struggling with addiction and substance use, with opioids and other substances, and their families and loved ones: You are not alone.

Many of us at the federal, state, and local level recognize the severity of this crisis and are working hard to make sure that everyone struggling with substance abuse gets the help they need, when they need it. In Vermont we are making some progress in this area, but much more needs to be done. As Chairman of the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pension Committee I will do my best to make sure that Vermont has the resources it needs.

There are a number of resources available throughout Vermont that provide treatment, support, referrals, and other recovery services for Vermonters struggling with addiction and for families and loved ones. One of the excellent resources is Jenna’s Promise, in Johnson, Vermont which I had the opportunity to visit a few years ago. Founded and run by the Tatro Family, Jenna’s Promise is a recovery community with a whole-life approach, including sober housing, treatment services, community support, an innovative work program, and more. Recently, the Bernie Buzz was able to visit Jenna’s Promise. I hope you will watch the video above to hear their story and learn more. You can contact Jenna’s Promise at 802-343-8741 or www.jennaspromise.org.

Below we’ve also compiled some additional resources. If someone you know is in need of assistance, you can connect directly to many of these organizations for more information on how to support them in accessing treatment.
Sincerely,
