Meeting with Vermont Seniors
[PHOTOS Attached]

Dear Fellow Vermonter,

I always enjoy meeting with Vermont seniors. Pre-COVID, we used to do that on a pretty regular basis.

Recently, we were able to pick up where we left off with wonderful senior town meetings in Bennington, Rutland, Brattleboro, Barre, and Burlington. Tomorrow, Tuesday, August 22, I’ll be going up to Saint Johnsbury at 12 P.M. and Newport at 4 P.M. If you are interested in attending either event tomorrow, please call my office for more details. You can reach my office at 802-862-0697 or 800-339-9834 (toll free).

Vermont seniors have many serious concerns about what’s going on in Washington, and we have had some great discussions. Among many other subjects, we have talked about making sure that Social Security benefits are not cut, and that we keep that vitally important program solvent for our kids and future generations. We talked about the need to lower the outrageously high cost of prescription drugs, and the high cost of health care in general. Like most Vermonters, seniors are concerned about what climate change is doing to our state and world, and how it will impact their kids and grandchildren. In Rutland, seniors were upset about the high prices that Comcast is charging for cable TV.

In a future Buzz, I will go into detail about what my office is doing to protect older Vermonters with regard to these and other concerns.

Attached are some photos from the senior meetings we held in Burlington and Brattleboro.

Sincerely,
