Regarding the Fire at My Office

Dear Fellow Vermonter,

As you may know, an arsonist set a fire at my Burlington Senate office this past Friday morning, on April 5. Fortunately, none of the many workers in our office and throughout the building were physically injured.

A suspect was arrested on Sunday morning. I want to thank local, state, and federal first responders and law enforcement agencies for their quick and effective response to the fire and in their efforts to bring this individual into custody. They did a great job.

I also appreciate the calls of support our office has received from Vermonters across our state. Please know that, while my Vermont staff will be working from home for the next few weeks as the office is repaired, we will be able to continue our casework and other activities at 100% capacity. In other words, do not hesitate to call us about an issue where you think we can help.

For more details, see the following official statement released by law enforcement regarding this unfortunate event.

Sincerely,
