Dear Fellow Vermonter,
One of my favorite parts of being your senator is hearing about all the ways Vermonters are teaching each other new skills, building community, and breaking the mold in the process. Two years ago, an organization here in Vermont began with exactly that in mind.
Habitat for Aviation is a nonprofit created to support the next generation of young aviation maintenance technicians and avionics specialists through apprenticeship opportunities. Recently, the Bernie Buzz visited Habitat for Aviation in Swanton to learn more about their team and their mission.
Today, only 5% of pilots in our country are women, and less than 3% of airplane mechanics are women. That is what makes one of Habitat for Aviation’s projects particularly special: It is led and executed by all women and girls.
I hope you will take a moment to watch the video below and listen to their director, Beth White, along with other fantastic members of their team to learn more.
I look forward to following Habitat for Aviation’s journey as they continue to grow, develop, and reach new heights. For more information on Habitat for Aviation, visit https://www.habitatforaviation.org/.
Sincerely,
|
