Breakfast and Hike: Join Me on the Lamoille Valley Rail Trail

Saturday, June 14 at 10:30 a.m.

Dear Fellow Vermonter,

As we all proudly know, Vermont is one of the most beautiful states in the country. Not only do we have extraordinary natural beauty, we have wonderful state parks, hiking and bike trails, and great wilderness areas.

In these difficult times, getting outdoors with friends and neighbors and enjoying nature is a great way to reduce stress and anxiety and help build community.

For all of these reasons I am happy to let you know that my office is once again sponsoring a breakfast and hike on the Lamoille Valley Rail Trail.

If you are ready for some fun, community and exercise, please join me on Saturday, June 14 at 10:30 a.m. at the Oxbow Park trailhead in Morrisville. After bagels, coffee, and conversation, we’ll set off on an out-and-back, 3-mile hike to the Park Street road-crossing in Morrisville.

For those not familiar with the Lamoille Valley Rail Trail (LVRT), it is a beautiful four-season, 93-mile path connecting 18 Vermont communities and five counties from Swanton to St. Johnsbury. The path is built on a former railroad track originally constructed in the 1860s. I am very proud to have secured the initial federal funding for the trail back in 2005, and was able to secure additional funding for trail improvements in 2022. The LVRT has, over the years, become a tremendous resource for communities along the way and for our entire state as Vermonters and tourists come together, enjoy nature, and explore many of our beautiful towns and villages

Please join us for this family friendly hike.

Don’t forget to RSVP

Attendees are encouraged to arrive early to park, make your way to the event location, and get food. Bagels and coffee will be available at 9:45 a.m., with the program kicking off at 10:30 a.m. Upon reaching the Park Street road crossing, hikers will walk the 1.5 mile return trip back to Oxbow Park. Additional details will be shared with all registered participants closer to the event.

I hope to see you on the trail!

Sincerely,
