Dear Fellow Vermonter,
Earlier this month, our office shared information with you about the Congressionally Directed Spending (CDS) process, where members of Congress can direct federal dollars to where they are needed most, and many of you attended a webinar about the process.
We wanted to share some important updates on this funding, including a new application deadline of 5 p.m. on March 30, 2026.
On Tuesday, the Senate Appropriations Committee provided guidelines for Fiscal Year 2027 submissions. Importantly, the Committee has set deadlines beginning in early April — earlier than we had anticipated. Unfortunately, this means we need to move our deadline to ensure Senator Sanders can submit his requests on time. We know this is frustrating for many of you and we share your frustration.
The Senate Appropriations Committee has also made some changes to its guidance for these projects. Please review the updated guidance here before submitting your request. If you wish to submit an appropriations request application to be considered for federal funding or want to watch a staff-led webinar about the process, you can do so through the Senator's website here. If you have already submitted an application, don’t worry! Our team will work with you to ensure it is in compliance with the updated guidelines.
Past projects have had a significant impact across a wide range of issues, many long-neglected, including child care, affordable housing, sustainable energy, health and dental care, and infrastructure.
Your project can make a real difference in our state and we look forward to reviewing your application.
Thank you, Team Sanders |
