Dear Fellow Vermonter,
I very much enjoy the opportunity of meeting with seniors throughout the state. I want to hear what’s on their minds, and I do my best to answer the questions they have. I love the give and take discussions that we have.
So far, we’ve had well-attended lunch-town meetings in Barre, Bennington and Castleton. Our schedule for the coming weeks is: August 18 in Burlington, August 20 in Brattleboro, August 27 in St. Johnsbury and Newport, and September 1 in Morrisville. If you are interested in attending any of these, RSVP here or call my office at 800-339-9834.

From what I’ve heard so far Vermont seniors have very serious concerns about many of the actions taken by the Trump administration. They are distressed about the war in Iran, ICE raids and this administration’s general contempt for the Constitution and the rule of law.
I’ve also heard a lot of concern about the very high cost of healthcare, prescription drugs and housing and the need to keep Social Security and Medicare strong and solvent into the future. A number of seniors also expressed their worries about the rapid development of artificial intelligence and robotics, and the way those new technologies could affect our kids, our economy and our privacy.

Thank you to everyone who came out to our summer celebrations so far and to those who helped make these events possible. I look forward to the upcoming events, and I hope that many more Vermonters will be able to join us.
Sincerely,
