Dear Floridians:
From my family to yours, I’d like to wish you a very happy Independence Day!
On this day, we remember the men and women who risked their lives for our independence and created a system of government that is the envy of the world. The American Experiment really was an experiment. The self-determination and checks and balances that our system of government created were unique on the world stage and no one knew how it would turn out. Now, 243 years later, we know that America is the greatest country in the world because our system of government allows individual liberty to thrive.
Americans have created the best economy in the world, the strongest military and a system of government that stands the test of time. I believe our Founding Fathers would look at America today and be proud of what they created.
Today, we also reflect on the bravery of the men and women in uniform who have fought to defend and serve America, our ideals, and our values. The men and women of our Armed Forces put their lives at risk, providing not just for the safety of our nation’s families, but for freedom across the globe.
We must take every opportunity to thank them for their service, courage, and sacrifices not just today, but every day. As a Senator and a member of the Armed Services Committee, I’ll never stop fighting to support our American heroes.
Thank you, and God Bless America.
Sincerely,
Senator Rick Scott
