Bolstering Taiwan Helps Deter the Chinese Communist Party

This week, I joined Special Report on Fox News to talk about the importance of American support for Taiwan and how bolstering Taiwan will help deter the Chinese Communist Party.

The conventional wisdom is that the threat China poses to Taiwan is more of a long-term threat, but after my recent visit to Taiwan, I am actually persuaded that the next five years are especially critical to do everything we can to deter invasion. The Chinese Communist Party is reeling a bit right now due to its struggles with Covid, population decreases, and economic challenges. This uncertainty increases the chances that China may make a move on Taiwan within the next five years. After visiting, I am even more convinced of the need for deeper engagement and cooperation between our two countries moving forward.

Standing for Life

It was an honor to join the thousands of Hoosiers who walked in Indiana's March for Life on Monday. Hoosiers have been - and always will be - strong leaders of the pro-life movement.

I recently received an “A” rating on the Susan B. Anthony List’s new National Pro-Life Scorecard, which takes into account votes and actions for every member of Congress during the 117th Congress. There is no greater cause than giving a voice to the voiceless, and I remain committed to supporting policy solutions that affirm the right to life and support the pro-life movement

Congratulations, Scott Rolen

Congratulations to Jasper native Scott Rolen on being elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame. In 1993, while attending Jasper High School, Scott was named Indiana’s Mr. Baseball.

Celebrating School Choice for Hoosiers

To celebrate and support all learning opportunities in Indiana, I introduced a resolution designating January 22 to January 28 as National School Choice Week.

Hoosier families should be able to choose the type of education that best suits their children’s needs.
