I joined America’s Newsroom on Fox News to discuss the U.S. response to China’s spy balloon and the latest information on other objects shot down by the U.S. military.

I’ve called on President Biden to provide answers to the American people about the situation and to restore deterrence so that the Chinese Communist Party understands it cannot send spy balloons over our schools, homes, farms, and military bases.

Commemorating Abraham Lincoln's Hoosier Roots

To commemorate the 214th anniversary of President Abraham Lincoln’s birth, I spoke on the Senate floor about how Lincoln’s Hoosier roots forged his character.

Lincoln is widely regarded as one of our country’s greatest presidents, a visionary and inspiring leader who appealed to the highest of American ideals and moved our nation toward a more perfect Union.

While Lincoln belongs to all Americans, Hoosiers can claim a special connection with him.

Protecting Hoosier Families and Small Businesses from Heavy-Handed IRS

I joined with Republicans on the Senate Finance Committee to introduce a bill that would prevent the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) from using its $80 billion infusion of taxpayer dollars included in the so-called Inflation Reduction Act to squeeze more revenue out of hardworking Hoosier families and small businesses making less than $400,000 per year.

Supporting Hoosier FFA Members

The United States Senate passed my resolution recognizing February 18-25, 2023 as National FFA Week.

Throughout Hoosier communities and our country, FFA plays a critical role in the development of students through agricultural education. The lessons, tools, and resources gained through the FFA program equip Indiana’s future leaders with the skills needed to succeed in a variety of fields.

I'm proud to support the over 11,600 Hoosier FFA members.

Melony and advocates with Special Olympics Indiana stopped by my office on Special Olympics Hill Day to share about the great work they do and how Special Olympics makes a difference in the lives of Hoosiers.

I am inspired by athlete leaders like Melony.

Standing with the People of Burma

On February 1, 2021, military convoys entered the Burmese capital of Naypyidaw and overthrew the legitimate government. In the two years since then, more than 13,000 people have been detained for exercising basic freedoms and more than 2,800 civilians, including children, have been killed. Now, more than 17 million people in Burma are in need of humanitarian aid, and 1.5 million remain internally displaced as a result of the ongoing violence and instability fostered by the military.

Today, more than 35,000 Burmese Americans live in Indiana, making Indiana's Burmese population the largest of any U.S. state. 

Our Burmese neighbors have been a welcome addition to the Indiana tapestry. They have added to the richness and diversity of the Hoosier State. But their hearts break for their home country and their friends and family who live under an illegitimate military regime.

I wrote an op-ed in the Fort Wayne Journal Gazette on why I am proud to stand with the Burmese community – both in Indiana and around the globe.
