Assistance Coming After Indiana Severe Storms

Image

Earlier this month, the Indiana congressional delegation sent a letter to President Biden urging him to support Governor Eric Holcomb’s request for a major disaster declaration for several Indiana counties due to severe weather on March 31-April 1, 2023. Our letter can be found here.

The President approved the Governor’s request last weekend. Indiana homeowners and renters in Allen, Benton, Clinton, Grant, Howard, Johnson, Lake, Monroe, Morgan, Owen, Sullivan, and White counties who were affected by these storms may apply for FEMA disaster assistance.

Rose-Hulman Connects Students with Tech-Based Companies

Image

I joined Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology President Rob Coons on a tour of Rose-Hulman Ventures, a program connecting students with technology-based companies. This program is just one of the many ways Rose-Hulman is producing the type of highly skilled graduates that will help Indiana as we pursue a Tech Hub designation as part of my CHIPS and Science Act.

I was very impressed with the students and faculty, who are working on solutions to big problems. This university is a great asset to The Region.

Bipartisan Bill to Help Improve Access to Affordable Child Care

Hoosier parents rely on affordable child care in order to build careers and provide for their families.

I introduced bipartisan legislation to help improve access to affordable child care for parents working nontraditional hours. The After Hours Child Care Act would support expanding existing child care programs, or establishing new facilities in some cases, so parents can remain in the workforce and provide for their families while working outside of the traditional work hours of 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
