Vermillion County Celebrates Bicentennial

Image

I recently spoke on the Senate floor about the bicentennial of Vermillion County, which celebrated its 200th birthday in February. In my remarks, I talked about the history of Vermillion County, its people, and the county’s contributions to Indiana and America.

The occasion of its 200th anniversary is a fitting time not simply to honor Vermillion County but to remember how much our small towns and our local communities matter and how essential the decency, kindness, and patriotism found in places like Vermillion County is to our Republic.

To the people of Vermillion County, we join you in the celebration of your bicentennial, we thank you for all you have done for our state and our country, and we look forward to the days ahead.

"Made in Indiana" Tour Continues in Richmond

Image

I continued my "Made in Indiana" tour with a visit to the construction site for Liberation Labs' new biomanufacturing facility in Richmond. Liberation Labs is building its first commercial-scale, purpose-built, precision fermentation biomanufacturing facility in Richmond. This facility will produce bio-based proteins and other building block ingredients at the necessary scale and cost to meet a pressing need among both packaged goods companies and industrial manufacturers.

Liberation Labs is another example of Hoosier leadership in biotech that will bring jobs and opportunity to Wayne County.

Meeting with the Mayor of Richmond

I enjoyed meeting with Richmond Mayor Ron Oler earlier this week. I learned more about efforts to revitalize the downtown area and the positive impact the CHIPS and Science Act is already having in Wayne County.

Supporting Hoosier Fire Fighters

I appreciated my conversation with the Professional Fire Fighters Union of Indiana earlier this week on issues affecting Hoosier fire fighters. I am grateful for their service and commitment to our communities.
