Earlier this week, I questioned Internal Revenue Service (IRS) Commissioner Daniel Werfel on the difficulties Hoosiers have faced with obtaining assistance from the IRS.
My office consistently receives feedback from Hoosier taxpayers about inefficiencies and customer service issues with the IRS. Common complaints include an inability to reach IRS employees, inadequate assistance, and significant processing delays. Historically, the IRS has used funding as an excuse for these issues. The IRS should use the billions of dollars in extra funding it received to address these customer service issues, modernize, and better serve taxpayers.
