Kids Online Safety Act Passes Senate

Image

I recently voted for the Kids Online Safety Act, bipartisan legislation that will protect children online and hold social media companies accountable. The legislation passed the Senate 91-3 and now heads to the House of Representatives.

Hoosier parents are concerned about protecting their children online and want social media companies to do more to safeguard their platforms. Our bipartisan bill would require these companies to take new measures to protect children from harmful content and empower parents with additional tools to safeguard their children and protect their personal information. I encourage my colleagues in the House of Representatives to pass this important legislation so that it can be signed into law.

My Bill Addressing Judicial Emergencies Advances

For too long, many Americans have been denied access to our justice system due to an overload of cases and a shortage of judges.

Last week, my JUDGES Act of 2024 unanimously passed the Senate. This bipartisan legislation, which I introduced, would address judicial emergencies and shortages across the country by increasing the number of federal district judges in the most overworked regions of the country, including the Southern District of Indiana.

This bipartisan bill will help alleviate this shortage and ensure all Americans have the opportunity to have their day in court. I urge my colleagues in the House of Representatives to pass this legislation as soon as possible.

No Place for Anti-Christian Bigotry at Olympics

Last week, I joined a number of my Republican colleagues in sending a letter to Thomas Bach, President of the International Olympic Committee, following the vulgar depiction of the Last Supper that took place during the Opening Ceremony of the Olympic Games Paris 2024.

These Games are meant to unite people from every country, race, and creed. There is no room for anti-Christian bigotry at an event designed to bring the world together. The athletes participating in these Games should be celebrated, and no one’s faith should be demeaned.
