Supporting Our Hoosier Heroes

Image

I recently visited with the team at Kaiser Home Support System and Liberty Place in New Albany to learn more about how they are supporting veterans who have struggled with substance abuse, mental health issues, and homelessness.

I am encouraged by the hope and redemption this program provides. Learn more about the program and the difference it is making in southern Indiana by clicking here

SK Hynix Announcement Huge Win for Indiana

Earlier this month, the U.S. Department of Commerce announced that SK hynix will receive up to $450 million in proposed federal incentives under the CHIPS and Science Act to establish a high-bandwidth-memory advanced packaging fabrication and research and development facility in West Lafayette. The announcement comes four months after the South Korean chip producer announced it will invest an estimated $3.8 billion to bring more than 1,000 new jobs to West Lafayette.

In addition to the proposed direct funding of up to $450 million, the CHIPS Program Office also will make up to $500 million of proposed loans under the CHIPS and Science Act loan authority available to SK hynix. The company plans to begin mass production in the second half of 2028.

One of the primary goals of the CHIPS and Science Act, which I helped author, was to bring semiconductor manufacturing back to the United States. I’m thrilled that this investment is being made right here in Indiana to help our country continue to shore up our domestic supply chain. We cannot afford to rely on China or other countries for components that are critical to our national security.

Expanding Access to Quality Child Care

I joined with a number of my Senate Republican colleagues in introducing legislation to increase working families’ access to child care. The Child Care and Development Block Grant (CCDBG) Reauthorization Act of 2024 would strengthen child care services, increase the supply of child care providers, and improve the program to support families and providers in the pursuit of quality, affordable child care.

Hoosier families rely on affordable, quality, accessible child care and preschool options. This bill would empower parents to decide what child care and preschool providers best suit the needs of their families and strengthen child care capacity.

Help for Hoosiers
