Supporting American Growth and Innovation

Recently, I spoke with the National Association of Manufacturers about the importance of ensuring that America’s position as a global leader remains strong. Without growth, our economy suffers and our ability to remain internationally competitive is diminished. This is a massive national security risk.

As the Senate looks at much-needed tax changes in the next year, I am focused on pro-growth tax policy. We need to be thinking creatively about ways we can add value to our economy and, in turn, ensure Americans are better off.

New Housing, Child Care Options in Northeast Indiana

Image

Electric Works in Fort Wayne is an example of a public-private partnership enhancing a community.

Recently, I joined a celebration of The Elex building, which will offer much-needed affordable housing for Hoosiers of all ages and child care options for families. The Elex will include 296 apartments, an early childhood learning center, and fitness and wellness facilities. The development includes 89 affordable housing units, with 59 of those units restricted to individuals aged 55 and above. The Elex is named after the association of women employed by General Electric, first established in 1916.

My CHIPS Permitting Bill Signed Into Law

The President recently signed into law my bill to cut red tape and solidify America’s ability to successfully onshore chip production as quickly as possible.

The CHIPS and Science Act included manufacturing incentives vital to increasing domestic chip production here in the U.S. and protecting our national security interests. As implementation continues, unnecessary regulatory burdens are threatening to slow down these critical investments in domestic semiconductor manufacturing and pause construction that has already begun.

Senator Mark Kelly and I introduced the Building Chips in America Act to streamline federal permitting processes for microchip manufacturing projects while maintaining bedrock protections for clean air and clean water. Our bill passed the Senate twice and passed the House last month.

We cannot let unnecessary regulatory burdens slow down investments in domestic chip manufacturing, and I am glad this bill is now law. Read more here.
