U.S. Steel-Nippon Deal a Win for Hoosier Workers

President Trump’s recent announcement of a partnership between U.S. Steel and Nippon Steel will draw $14 billion in investment toward the American economy, including in northwest Indiana. This is a huge win for Hoosier workers and the American economy.

I spoke about former President Biden's misguided decision to block the Nippon Steel deal during a hearing earlier this year. Addressing Shortage of Mental Health Professionals in Schools

I joined Senate colleagues in reintroducing the Mental Health Excellence in Schools Act to address the shortage of mental health providers in schools by boosting the pipeline of graduate students trained to become school psychologists, counselors, and social workers.

Access to mental health resources improves the safety, well-being, and academic success of Hoosier students. Our bill will both support the school-based mental health workforce and address the critical need for these professionals.

Safeguarding the Conscience Rights of Hoosier Health Care Workers

I joined Senator James Lankford (R-Okla.) in introducing the Conscience Protection Act to protect health care providers and insurance plans from government discrimination if they decline to participate in abortions. The bill also enforces existing conscience laws by providing a private right of action for victims of conscience discrimination.

Health care professionals who believe in the sanctity of life should not be forced to choose between losing their jobs and performing an abortion. Our bill will protect the rights of health care workers and ensure they are not discriminated against for choosing life.
