Hoosier Nominated to Serve as FAA Administrator

Last week, I introduced Hoosier Bryan Bedford, nominee to be Administrator of the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), during his confirmation hearing before the Senate Commerce, Science, and Transportation Committee. I spoke about his background and outlined why I support his nomination.
During the hearing, we discussed modernizing the nation’s airspace with artificial intelligence to increase efficiency and the need to boost domestic production of unmanned aerial systems.
Nearly 80 percent of the FAA’s systems are operationally untenable in the long term. The FAA workforce in safety critical positions – none of which, it should be noted, were eliminated as part of the recent resignation program – is understaffed and overworked, leading to potentially dangerous burnout. Modernization of our aviation system is overdue.
Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy has introduced a plan to provide much needed upgrades, to not only strengthen the safety of, but also improve the efficiency of our Air Traffic Control System. Bryan Bedford is exactly the type of innovative leader to implement these much-needed reforms.
