Update on Government Shutdown

Image

The federal government remains shut down, but my team and I are still working and available to Hoosiers. If you have questions or need assistance, our contact information can be found here.

The overwhelming majority of Americans do not want a government shutdown. I have repeatedly voted for a clean funding bill that would keep the federal government open and allow the Senate to continue debating other issues. I urge Senate Democrats to abandon this manufactured crisis and vote to reopen the government.

I’ve done a number of interviews about the shutdown in recent days. You can watch my Bloomberg TV interview here or by clicking the image above. I also spoke with WOWO, WNDU, and WISH TV in Indiana about the latest developments.

Gaza Peace Plan Announcement

The successful negotiation of a Gaza peace plan is a major diplomatic accomplishment and potentially a historic breakthrough. I want to congratulate President Donald Trump, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Special Envoy Steve Witkoff, and the Trump Administration on their successful and transformational efforts. I am grateful for their work in pursuit of peace in the Middle East, and we pray that this agreement holds.

More information on the agreement can be found here and here.

Indiana Chamber Discussion

This week, I joined Indiana Chamber of Commerce members and a few Hoosier congressional colleagues for a conversation on Indiana’s growing economy and workforce.

Keeping America’s Pipelines Safe and Secure

America’s energy independence requires a strong and secure pipeline infrastructure. I recently joined with a group of Senate colleagues to introduce a pipeline safety bill that will help ensure the continued secure movement of American energy.

The legislation includes key measures to reduce pipeline-related accidents, advance the development of new pipeline safety technologies, enhance safety inspections and enforcement efforts, and promote education for local communities. Our bill will ensure our pipeline ecosystem is safe and efficient, allowing the U.S. to meet our energy demands of today and tomorrow. Read more about this bill here.

National Manufacturing Day

We recently recognized National Manufacturing Day, which is especially important to Hoosiers as Indiana is the most manufacturing intensive state in the country. Thank you to all who carry forward the tradition of Made in America.

I recently met with Andrew Giuliani, Executive Director of the White House Task Force for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, to discuss how we can ensure a safe and successful event.

We are looking forward to hosting the World Cup in the United States for the first time in over thirty years.

Help for Hoosiers

Navigating federal agencies can be difficult. My staff and I are here to assist Hoosiers who are having trouble receiving benefits, have questions regarding a program or procedure, or have not heard back from these agencies in a timely manner.
