Indiana March for Life 

Last week, my team joined hundreds of Hoosiers for the annual Indiana March for Life. Thank you to everyone who braved the cold to give a voice to the voiceless. 

Indiana's National Drone Test Site Designation

I recently spoke with Inside INdiana Business host Gerry Dick about a new designation Indiana received to be a national drone test site. Indiana's academic, military, and private sector assets set the state up to be a national leader in the manufacturing, testing, and deployment of drone technologies.

Visits with Hoosier Mayors

It was good to visit with Carmel Mayor Sue Finkam, Noblesville Mayor Chris Jensen, and Bloomington Mayor Kerry Thomson. Really exciting things happening in each of these great communities.

Update on the Situation in Minnesota

I support a full and transparent investigation into the tragic event in Minneapolis last weekend. Congress has requested testimony from ICE, CBP, and USCIS leaders in an open hearing, and they should testify soon. Law enforcement officers have a challenging job and deserve our support. Providing the American people with the full facts is an important part of maintaining public trust. We also need state and local officials to better cooperate with federal enforcement efforts. Let’s all work to lower the political temperature in the days to come.

Southern Indiana Counties Make Push on SHIPS Act 

While passing my SHIPS Act to build more American ships is good for our national security, it also will provide new opportunities for American workers, including in our state. According to Inside INdiana Business, “officials from Spencer, Perry and Harrison counties are making a push to become a so-called 'SHIPS Act Ready Region,' largely due to the infrastructure already in place to support shipbuilding, including the existing Corn Island Shipyard in Spencer County.”

Legislation Promoting U.S. Sports Diplomacy

I recently joined Senators Jacky Rosen (D-Nev.), John Curtis (R-Utah), and Alex Padilla (D-Calif.) on legislation to boost American sports diplomacy as the U.S. kicks off a decade of hosting large worldwide sporting events, which will help increase the number of tourists coming to the United States to attend them. 

The American Decade of Sports Act would require the Department of State to develop a comprehensive sports diplomacy strategy that leverages the many global sporting events the United States will host over the next decade, establishing the “Mega-Decade of Sports Diplomacy.” This strategy would enable the State Department to provide guidance to U.S. embassies and consulates worldwide, coordinate with U.S. host cities and states, engage key diaspora communities, and promote American sports culture, alongside U.S. industry and tourism, to international audiences.
