Banning Stock Trading by Members of Congress Will Help Restore Public Trust

Image

I’ve heard from many Hoosiers who are rightly concerned about those serving in Congress unfairly profiting from their positions. I fully support a ban on stock trading by members of Congress, and I am supporting two bills to ensure such a ban becomes law. No one in Congress should benefit financially from public service and the trust placed in them by voters.

I am cosponsoring the Restore Trust in Congress Act to stop insider trading by members of Congress, their spouses, and dependent children through banning the ownership and trading of individual stocks. The bill was introduced by Senator Ashley Moody (R-Fla.).

I also am cosponsoring the Stop Insider Trading Act, which would prohibit members of Congress, their spouses, and dependent children from purchasing publicly traded stocks and mandates a seven-day public notice period before any stock sales can be executed. The bill was introduced by Senator Pete Ricketts (R-Neb.).

Preventing Taxpayer Funded Abortions

Image

I led a letter encouraging the Trump Administration to reinstate the Protect Life Rule, which would ensure Title X family planning funds cannot be used to provide abortions or abortion referrals.

The Protect Life Rule was proposed and finalized by the first Trump Administration in 2019. In 2021, the Biden Administration rescinded the rule and withheld funds from at least two states for refusing to refer women for abortions. Reinstating this rule will prevent American taxpayer dollars from funding abortions and protect innocent lives.
