A recent routine inspection of a commercial truck by Customs and Border Protection resulted in officers discovering $8.1 million worth of methamphetamine disguised as a shipment of tiles. Read more about this apprehension here.

Thank you to our Border Patrol for protecting the American people. Last week, I voted for and the Senate passed a budget resolution to fund critical agencies like Border Patrol. We need to support these professionals who help keep us safe.

DoD Audit Update

I secured a provision in the 2023 National Defense Authorization Act requiring that the Department of Defense (DoD) conduct a full and clean audit within five years. I also spoke with Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth about this during his confirmation process.

This week, the Secretary announce that the DoD will deliver a clean audit for its 2028 financial statements. It’s good to see this is a priority, and let’s get it done to promote greater transparency.

Keeping Hoosiers Connected

I had a good meeting with Hoosier members of the Indiana Rural Broadband Association, who provide vital connection for the Hoosiers in the most rural parts of our state. Ensuring this connectivity remains a priority of mine.


USDA Moves SNAP Office to Indy

This week, the Trump administration announced it is moving the office that administers the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program to Indianapolis as part of an effort to move Department of Agriculture services out of Washington.

It’s great to see these services move outside of DC and into places like Indiana that feed our nation. Read more here.
