Strengthening Workforce Training

Image

I joined some of my colleagues in introducing legislation to help Americans gain new skills and advance in the workforce.

The Gateway to Careers Act would help expand access to workforce training programs, support workers who face barriers to employment, and strengthen pathways to good-paying jobs in industries facing workforce shortages. The bill would also help employers connect with skilled workers at a time when many businesses continue to face hiring challenges.

Every Hoosier deserves a fair shot at success. Removing barriers that keep individuals from reaching their full potential will help train our workers and grow our economy.

Read more about this legislation here. See the full text of the bill here.

Closest Finish in Indy 500 History

Image

The 110th Indy 500 did not disappoint, ending with the closest finish in race history. It was great to have Secretary of Transportation Sean Duffy at the race.

I joined WISH TV prior to the race and shared a few memories of attending with my dad in 1982. Watch here.

Hoosier Farmers Need Trade Certainty

Image

The first formal review of the U.S.-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA) this July will be a key test of whether the pact reinforces confidence in the North American market or creates more uncertainty. The prices of fertilizer, fuel and equipment, and whether corn, soybeans and pork have steady buyers, all hinge on the outcome.

As we approach USMCA review, I am pushing for trade certainty for our Hoosier ag community.

Navigating federal agencies can be difficult. My staff and I are here to assist Hoosiers who are having trouble receiving benefits, have questions regarding a program or procedure, or have not heard back from these agencies in a timely manner.
