Federal Assistance Coming to Indiana

Earlier this week, President Donald Trump approved Governor Mike Braun’s request for a major disaster declaration following severe storms, tornadoes, and flooding in Indiana that began on August 11. I joined the Indiana congressional delegation in sending a letter to President Trump in support of Governor Braun’s request for a major disaster declaration.

This federal assistance is much needed and will strengthen ongoing local and state efforts. I want to thank President Trump for providing additional support to Hoosiers. I am also grateful to the first responders, law enforcement, state and local officials, utility crews, linemen, and so many others who continue working to help communities recover and rebuild.

SK Hynix Groundbreaking Ceremony in West Lafayette

Image

This week, SK hynix broke ground on an over $4 billion advanced packaging fabrication and R&D facility in West Lafayette, providing new opportunities for Purdue students and Hoosier workers.

A primary goal of the CHIPS and Science Act, which I helped author, was to bring semiconductor manufacturing back to America. I’m thrilled that right here in Indiana we are helping to shore up our domestic supply chain.

SK hynix’s historic investment in West Lafayette is further proof that Indiana is leading the way in rebuilding America’s semiconductor industry. This project will create good-paying jobs, strengthen our national and economic security, and ensure the technologies of the future are developed and manufactured here in the United States.

I visited Evonik Laboratories in Lafayette to learn more about this growing life sciences manufacturer and the $100 million, five-year modernization program at its Lafayette site. Evonik does a great job of recognizing its employees who are also military veterans.

I recently spent time with the Southern Indiana Leathernecks in Jasper. I’m grateful for their service and for the opportunity to hear directly from those who have worn the uniform.

Help for Hoosiers

Navigating federal agencies can be difficult. My staff and I are here to assist Hoosiers who are having trouble receiving benefits, have questions regarding a program or procedure, or have not heard back from these agencies in a timely manner.
