Investment in Gary Works

U.S. Steel has completed the reline of a blast furnace at its Gary steel mill. The company is investing more than $3.1 billion into Gary Works after its acquisition by Nippon Steel. The newly upgraded blast furnace will produce molten iron that is then turned into steel for appliances, cars, and other manufactured products.
This is the investment I hoped to see from the Nippon Steel deal. New investments at Gary Works will support northwest Indiana manufacturing, strengthen American steel, and reinforce a domestic supply chain that runs from Minnesota iron ore to steel made in Gary.
