Giving Indiana Kids a Financial Head Start

Image

Brad Gerstner, a native of Syracuse, Indiana, is contributing $250 into the Trump Accounts program for up to 140,000 young Hoosiers.

Brad and I wrote a column in the Indy Star about why Congress created these accounts, Brad’s desire to give back to Hoosiers, and how research shows that having assets early in life can put kids on a great path into adulthood.

Regardless of your financial position today, we encourage every family in Indiana with young children to take advantage of these opportunities and build a brighter future for the next generation.

Hoosiers Contributing to National Security at Crane

Image

On a recent visit to Crane, I learned more about future Micro Modular Reactors and Small Modular Reactors opportunities on the base. I also had an opportunity to chat with Crane Army Ammunition Activity leadership to hear about their critical contributions to DoW munitions and drone development.

The infrastructure and skilled Hoosier workforce at Crane continue to make a major impact for our national security.

FDD Discussion on National Security Threats

Image

I joined the Foundation for Defense of Democracies (FDD) for a fireside chat on the growing cooperation among China, Russia, Iran, and North Korea and the national security challenges facing the United States.

During the discussion, I highlighted the need to strengthen America’s economic and national security, rebuild critical domestic capabilities, and work with allies and partners to counter growing cooperation among U.S. adversaries.

NSC Should Discuss Emerging AI Threats

Image

This week, I sent a letter to U.S. National Security Advisor Marco Rubio calling on the National Security Council to convene recurring discussions between federal officials, leading artificial intelligence developers, cybersecurity experts, researchers, and critical infrastructure representatives to identify and address emerging national security threats posed by advanced AI systems.

I emphasized that the United States must remain the global leader in artificial intelligence while ensuring the federal government keeps pace with rapidly advancing AI capabilities and the potential security risks they represent.

Recent developments involving frontier AI models have further demonstrated the ability of advanced systems to circumvent safeguards, interact with external systems, and substantially enhance offensive cyber capabilities. These incidents underscore the need for the U.S. government to better understand and address emerging threats before they result in more serious consequences. We must also continue to improve our understanding of these increasingly complex systems, whose internal processes can be difficult even for experts to fully interpret, predict, and control.

Manufacturing Event for Hoosier Students

Image

Our team joined the Manufacturing Week 2026 celebration in Jeffersonville hosted by Amatrol that provided more than 500 Hoosier students with hands-on demonstrations and information about career paths in southern Indiana.

It was great to see One Southern Indiana Chamber and region manufacturers hosting this event.

Revitalizing America’s Maritime Industry

Image

Revitalizing America’s maritime industry means more good-paying jobs for American workers. The SHIPS for America Act can build on Indiana’s shipbuilding history and give Hoosiers a greater role in our national security.

Help for Hoosiers

Navigating federal agencies can be difficult. My staff and I are here to assist Hoosiers who are having trouble receiving benefits, have questions regarding a program or procedure, or have not heard back from these agencies in a timely manner.
