2015
Dear
Friends,
As
a
23-year
veteran
of
the
Navy,
I
understand
the
importance
of
veterans
benefits.
When
I
returned
from
active
duty in
Southeast
Asia,
I
was
determined
to
further
my
education,
and
thanks
to
the
G.I.
Bill,
I
was
able
to
attend
the
University
of
Delaware
and
earn
my
M.B.A.
Today,
veterans
receive
a
robust
G.I.
Bill
and
many
other
benefits,
and
its Congresss responsibility
to
ensure
they
have
access
to
what
theyve
earned. That
is
why
Delawares
Congressional
Delegation
spearheaded
by
Congressman
John
Carney
-
put
together
a
program
called
Veterans
Office
Hours.
During
Veterans
Office
Hours,
representatives
from
our
Delaware
delegation,
the
VA
Hospital,
and
other
veterans
organizations
will
be
on
hand
to
answer
questions
and
work
through
any
problems
you
or
a
veteran
you
know
might
have.
The
first
Veterans
Office
Hours
event
was
held
on
Monday,
and
it
was
a
great
opportunity
for
me
to
meet
with
veterans,
hear
their
concerns
and
help
connect
them with
the
right
people
who
can
help
them.
Nearly
100
veterans
attended
the
event,
and
we
arent
stopping
there.
With
the
success
of
the
first
Veterans
Office
Hours,
there
will
be
two
more
programs
this
month:
one
in
Kent
County
on
July
20
and
another
in
Sussex
County
on
July
27. Congressman
Carney,
Senator
Coons
and
I
will
be
there
along
with
the
same
organizations
from
the
first
Veterans
Office
Hours.
You
can
find
more
information
about
those
organizations
here.
We
owe
it
to
our
servicemen
and
women
to
make
sure
they
are
taken
care
of
when
they
return
home.
These
programs
are
an
invaluable
tool
for
veterans
looking
to
understand
their
benefits
and
secure
gainful
employment.
Along
with
the
efforts
of
the
delegation
to
create
these
office
hours,
I
am
proud
to
announce
that
the
delegation
is
also
sponsoring
two
veterans
job
fairs
on
August
3
and
September
3
in
order
to
connect
veterans
to
employers
and
other
services.
You
can
find
more
information
about
those
upcoming
veterans
job
fairs
here.
Sincerely,

|
