The damage and destruction that we are witnessing in Western North Carolina is catastrophic. Hurricane Helene delivered a historic amount of rain leading to flooding, crumbling infrastructure, and a tragic loss of life. Amy Kate and I are praying for all North Carolinians impacted by this tragedy. There is no doubt that the road to recovery will be long and difficult, but we will marshal all available resources to assist the region, including public, private, and charitable. We are all in this together.

I want to thank the National Guard, the Red Cross, the lineman, Samaritan's Purse, state and local emergency personnel, and countless others for their tireless work on behalf of our state. These heroes are saving lives every day. Today I began to tour the damage and meet with those on the ground who are the most affected.

To anyone needing assistance, my offices in Asheville, and across the state, are ready and able to help.
