Senator Scott’s Statement on the President’s Budget

Washington  - U.S. Senator Tim Scott (R-SC) today issued the following statement regarding the release of President Barack Obama’s Fiscal Year 2014 budget.

“Our nation needs serious solutions, and unfortunately the President has yet again failed to offer any. More than a trillion dollars in new tax hikes is not a plan to help American families, and more than $8.2 trillion in new debt simply adds weight on the shoulders of our children and grandchildren. This has become a five year trend of bad policy and an underwhelming economy, and the President’s budget today underscores that trend. Reducing the deficit by a mere $119 billion in the next 10 years is simply not going to suffice.

Instead of investing in government, let’s empower the individual. Less spending, lower taxes and fewer road blocks for our small business owners will unleash opportunities for all Americans. I will continue working towards those goals, and towards a better future for our nation."
