MEDIA ADVISORY: SENATOR SCOTT TO QUESTION NLRB NOMINEES THIS MORNING

Washington – U.S. Senator Tim Scott (R-SC) will be questioning five nominees to the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) as part of a Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee hearing this morning.

The hearing, which is ongoing, can be streamed live here: http://www.help.senate.gov//hearings/hearing/?id=344a34ae-5056-a032-5234-c28ca6c6564f

Earlier this week, Senator Scott and 13 of his colleagues sent a letter to HELP Chairman Tom Harkin (D-IA requesting a committee hearing on the NLRB’s fiscal year 2014 budget request, which asks Congress for more funding despite a drop in their caseload of “almost 9 percent.”

Scott is also an original cosponsor of legislation, the Advice and Consent Restoration Act, which would eliminate pay for unconstitutionally appointed members of the NLRB and block action by the board until legal appointees are in place. Scott has been a leader in Congressional efforts to rein in the NLRB following the Board’s attempt to destroy jobs in South Carolina in 2011-12.
