Dear
Friends,
I
hope
you
are
having
a
safe
and
enjoyable
summer!
As
the
season
winds
down
and
kids
get
ready
to
head
back
to
school,
I’ve
had
the
opportunity
to
travel
across
South
Carolina
and
talk
with
folks
about
what’s
going
on
here
and
in
Washington.
This
newsletter
is
one
more
way
for
me
to
share
with
you
my
work
on
issues
affecting
the
Palmetto
State.
Thank
you
for
subscribing
and
please
feel
free
to
share
it
with
friends
and
family.
On
the
Record
Earlier
this
week
I
had
the
opportunity
to
go
“On
the
Record”
with
Greta
van
Susteren
to
talk
about
how
Obamacare
is
hurting
American
families,
workers,
and
businesses.
This
law
is
too
big,
too
expensive,
too
complicated,
and
too
harmful.
It’s
time
to
repeal
it
and
move
on.

Unleashing
Our
Energy
Potential
I
also
had
the
opportunity
to
deliver
the
Weekly
Republican
Address
on
the
topic
of
unleashing
America’s
energy
potential.
Our
energy
sector
can
be
a
major
job
creator
if
we
finally
embrace
an
“all
of
the
above”
energy
plan
that
focuses
on
developing
nuclear,
wind,
and
solar
energy
while
maximizing
our
ability
to
produce
oil
and
gas.
I
also
called
on
President
Obama
to
approve
the
Keystone
pipeline
so
our
energy
economy
can
move
forward
and
thousands
of
Americans
can
get
to
work
on
its
construction.

Honoring
Those
Who
Served
On
July
27,
2013,
I
had
the
opportunity
to commemorate
the
60th
anniversary
of
the
Korean
War
armistice
with veterans
from
all
over
the
great
state
of
South
Carolina
in
Spartanburg
and
North
Charleston.
We
were
honored
to
have
nearly
700
veterans
join
us,
and
award
each
of
them
certificates
of
Congressional
Appreciation
and
pins.
In
all,
more
1,200
people
came
to
pay
tribute
and
say
thank
you
to
these
men
and
women
who
served
our
nation.

Protecting
Faith
and
Public
Expression
Recently,
I
joined
a
number
of
my
Senate
colleagues
in
filing
an
amicus
brief
asking
the
Supreme
Court
to
protect
public
expressions
of
faith
in
a
landmark
case
that
will
be
heard
by
the
court
soon.
A
U.S.
Circuit
Court
ruled
that
the
town
of
Greece,
New
York
violated
the
Constitution
by
allowing
town
board
meetings
to
begin
with
prayer
from
members
of
any
religious
denomination,
as
well
as
reflections
from
atheists.
Our
country
was
founded
on
a
principle
of
religious
liberty,
allowing
all
Americans
to
practice
and
express
their
beliefs.
The
First
Amendment
doesn’t
ban
the
practice
of
religion
or
expression
of
faith
in
a
public
setting
–
it
does
just
the
opposite.
I
hope
the
Supreme
Court
will
recognize
this
fundamental
right
and
apply
it
fairly
to
individuals
of
all
faiths,
in
any
setting.
