Dear
Friends,
As
you
know,
the
government
shutdown
is
now
approaching
two
weeks.
Today
the
President
invited
the
every
Senate
Republican
to
the
White
House
to
discuss
a
path
forward
on
the
debt
ceiling
and
reopening
the
government.
It
is
unfortunate
that
the
President
waited
until
now
to
even
begin
talking
to
Republicans
about
the
path
forward.
These
conversations
should
have
started
weeks
–
or
months
–
ago.
Today,
I
spoke
on
the
Senate
floor
about
the
need
for
long-term
solutions
that
tackle
the
root
of
our
fiscal
crises
instead
of
short-term,
Band
Aid
budgets
that
fail
to
address
Washington’s
reckless
spending
habits.
It’s
time
for
us
to
pass
a
responsible
budget
that
solves
Washington’s
spending
addiction
and
puts
our
country
back
on
the
path
to
fiscal
stability.

I
also
sat
down
with
Greta
Van
Sustern
and
Larry
Kudlow
this
week
to
discuss
the
shutdown
and
the
debt
ceiling.
Please
take
a
moment
to
watch
the
clips
below.

Thank
you
for
the
privilege
of
serving
South
Carolina
in
the
United
States
Senate
during
these
uncertain
times.
As
always,
please
feel
free
to
call
my
offices
with
any
questions
or
concerns.
We
are
always
happy
to
hear
from
you.
God
Bless,
Tim
