RSVPs This Week: Senator Tim Scott to Honor South Carolina’s Vietnam Era Veterans
Media Wishing to Attend Required to Register by Friday, August 1


Charleston, SC - U.S. Senator Tim Scott (R-SC) will host a special ceremony on August 2, 2014 in Columbia to honor South Carolina’s Vietnam War era veterans for their service to our country. 
  
During the 10:00am ceremony at the First Baptist Church of Columbia (1306 Hampton Street, Columbia, SC), Medal of Honor recipient Major General James Everett Livingston, USMC (Ret.) will deliver the keynote address, military bands from around South Carolina will perform and military artifacts and memorabilia from the era will be on display. Senator Scott will also give each veteran a special Senatorial Certificate of Appreciation and a pin. 
  
“The Vietnam War era was one of the most challenging in our nation’s history, and it is truly my honor to host these brave men and women who fought for freedom this year. Their sacrifices, as well as those made by their families, will never be forgotten,” Senator Scott said. “I’m proud to host our veterans and their families August 2, 2014 in Columbia to publicly honor them for their commitment to our nation.”  
  
To ensure that certificates are ready to be presented by the event, all interested veterans and guests are encouraged to register by Thursday, July 31, either by visiting http://scott.senate.gov/veterans or by calling 844-820-0146 (toll free).

Senator Scott has hosted honor ceremonies for South Carolina’s veterans since being elected to federal office. In 2012, World War Two veterans were honored, and last year two ceremonies were held celebrating our Korean War era veterans
