Senator Tim Scott Statement on Confirmation of New VA Secretary

Washington – U.S. Senator Tim Scott (R-SC) released the statement below following his “yes” vote on the confirmation of Robert McDonald as Secretary of the U.S. Department of Veterans’ Affairs (VA):   “Secretary McDonald brings a fresh perspective to the challenges facing the VA, and his confirmation today is a positive step forward in supporting our nation’s veterans. With a VA reform bill also on the schedule this week, we have the opportunity to ensure he has more flexibility to modernize our veterans health care system.   I look forward to sharing with Secretary McDonald some of the challenges we have encountered in South Carolina, and will continue working with the new secretary and his team to ensure our veterans receive the quality health care they have earned. The problems at the VA are by no means solved, but today is a move in the right direction." ###
